KPMG's Research and Development (R&D) Tax Incentives Services practice consists of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, accountants and tax experts that assist our clients to obtain tax savings through various tax incentive programs like Canada's Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program - one of the country's largest tax incentive programs.
Our team provides specialty advisory services to help multinational and mid-market companies across various industries carry their innovation and research and development vision by benefiting from the SR&ED program and other incentives available through various federal and provincial governments programs.
KPMG is currently seeking a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to join its Calgary Tax Incentives Services practice as a Senior Consultant.

KPMG is currently seeking a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to join its Calgary Tax Incentives Services practice as a Senior Consultant.
What you will do
- Keep abreast of current and the latest tax legislations, jurisprudence and trends related to the SR&ED program.
- Review, analyze and document client financial records in a manner to support SR&ED tax credit claims and other government incentive applications within established processes.
- Evaluate the project eligibility framework and articulate strong financial positions to support eligible project expenditures in accordance with SR&ED program guidelines.
- Assist with the preparation and review of working papers to support financial positions and the calculation of federal and provincial tax credits.
- Project manage, plan, organize and execute multiple engagements on time and within budget.
- Successfully develop and manage client relationships/expectations at multiple client levels.
- Research, analysis, and writing of memos on a wide variety of incentive tax issues.
- Conduct engagement profitability analysis and identify improvement opportunities.
- Supporting our client's entire engagement from the preparation of claims to audit defense and final claim review.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Successful completion of the CFE or working towards a CPA designation.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional accounting experience.
- Experience with tax incentive programs and government funding in a professional services firm considered an asset but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Strong time-management abilities and self-motivation with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and consistently achieve delivery milestones.
- Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients' business and maintain strong client relationships and manage client expectations.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills specifically in MS Excel (tables, formulas, macros, pivot tables etc.), Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
