POSITION TYPE: Faculty - 89.9%, Non-Regular Type 2 (NR2)
POSITION START: September 1 2025

The Faculty of Health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for one part-time (89.9%) Non-regular Type 2 (NR2) faculty to teach in our Traditional Chinese Medicine Program. The appointment is for one year from September 1st, 2025 to August 31st, 2026. NR2 faculty are entitled to paid vacation leave, professional development leave and benefits.
FACULTY OVERVIEW:
The TCM department offers two comprehensive programs; the Acupuncture Diploma program and the Bachelors of Traditional Chinese medicine (BTCM). The Acupuncture Diploma curriculum has been designed to offer an education of significant breadth and rigour within the contexts of TCM/Acupuncture fundamental theory, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical practice. The program's courses and labs are enhanced by practice experiences in community care and home support facilities. Graduates will have the requisite TCM core foundation, acupuncture competencies, critical thinking and communication skills needed to be safe, competent healthcare practitioners in an evolving health services landscape.
The aim of the BTCM program is to develop graduates who will become competent Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners able to combine research and critical thinking in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex patients. This practice will rely on deep understanding of the evolving healthcare delivery environment of British Columbia, as well as the similarities and differences between Western medicine, biomedical science, and TCM. Its disciplinary foci will be TCM theory, TCM practice, philosophy, herbal treatment, advanced acupuncture, and the provision of integrated care to complex patients. Graduates will be prepared, through practice management courses and applied practice, to successfully operate their own practices.
Faculty in the TCM program are leaders and experts in their field and draw on their experience to educate and inspire students. The TCM department currently offers one program, a diploma in acupuncture. This program has a strong reputation and is well attended. The program is delivered by a small and passionate group, and we are seeking like-minded educators to join this enthusiastic team.
